How can we be Champions of Peace Blog Post
For the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions of Peace’.
Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. A dove, an olive branch, the two finger peace sign and the peace circle sign.
These symbols represent peace because of the dove and olive branch because in the story Noah’s ark in the bible a dove returned to the ark after the flood with an olive branch. The V two finger symbol was introduced in the 1941 Vietnam war to mean peace between allies. And the circle peace sign or the CND signs means it was used during the anti nuclear weapons movement and in the sign you can see a C, a N and a D.
With these symbols in mind I created a Peace Artwork. I created an image of the yin yang circle but instead of using the little symbols in the middle of the yin yang I used two of the peace symbols: the V finger symbol and the CND circle symbol.
We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about Ardie Savea. I thought this person was a champion of peace because of the way he leads his rugby team the All Blacks even though he isn’t the captain he is still one of the main leaders of the team. Other players from different teams have shared about his respect and peace between teams. After most of his games the first thing he will do is go over to the other team and thank them and shake their hands even before talking to his own team.
We also created a peace prayer book. I have attached my peace prayer book here.
I enjoyed learning about peace because I got to see all the different people and symbols of different parts of the world.
One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by keeping being peaceful and spreading peace in everything I do.
Are you a peace spreader?
